Fishing for Gold(en) Dorado
Golden Dorado are an apex predator inhabiting the rivers of Argentina including the Parana River in the Corrientes Region. Known for attacking with incredible power these beautiful golden fish will give you the fight of your life. Because Golden Dorado are specially skilled at shaking loose from your hook as they leap out of the water you will want to make sure you double hook set any strike! While most of the Golden Dorado you catch will be 4-6 pounds, the Parana River is known for anglers landing 15-20 pounders regularly. My personal best(pictured) was almost 30 pounds!

Frequently Asked Questions
Where will we be staying?
Lodging will be at the Pesca Argentina Lodge just outside of Paso de la Patria. The resort has about 25 rooms and is right on the river. Amenities include a swimming pool, onsite restaurant and full bar service.
Do they speak english at the lodge?
No. The lodge staff all speak Portuguese and Spanish. Some of the staff speak a little English. For English speaking clientele, communication is done via Google Translate.
Did the language barrier bother you(Adam) when you stayed here?
Not really. The fishing was pretty good. The food was good. The rooms were clean. They had a very large drink selection(included in price!) and the staff was very friendly. Fortunately for me, Google Translate works well.
How does payment work?
First, lets cover the reservation process. You make the reservation with me and I contact Anderson(the owner of the lodge) to make your reservation. Once I have that in hand I will send you the confirmation. Once we have a resrvation confirmed I have to collect a $450 per person deposit. You pay the balance either in US cash or with a credit card when you arrive at the lodge.
Adam's Thoughts on the Trip
I stayed at the lodge for 5 nights in November of 2024. As fishing trips go, this was a relatively low cost trip. When I travel to the Amazon the cost is more than double the cost of this trip. So I went in with pretty low expectations. The rooms in the lodg were clean. They were not fancy. But I don’t need fancy, I need clean. The food was good and there was a lot of it. Each day we would head back for lunch and then take a 1-2 hour siesta(nap) after lunch during the heat of the day. Around 2:30/3 pm we headed back out for the last 2-2.5 hours of fishing for the day. When we returned we enjoyed a drink(or two) and appetizers. Dinner was served around 7 pm. Steak, pasta and fish were served about every night along with a variety of sides. The bar selection was fantastic. Along with cocktails they had beer, sodas, juices, smoothies and bottled water. The fishing was good most days. We caught several golden dorados every day with most between 3-5 pounds. But both my friend(Jeff) and I caught a dorado over 15 pounds during the trip. We also caught some piranhas, a catfish and a couple other carp like fish. Not the fanciest of trips, but I’d do it again!
