Spend a Week Fishing in the Amazon Jungle
Enjoy the explosive power of a peacock bass as it slams your chopper bait or hang on for life as a massive amazon catfish takes your bait and runs.
Whether you choose to fish exclusively for peacock bass or chase a variety of species on a multi-species fishing trip you won’t be disappointed with an Amazon Jungle fishing trip!
Even though you will be miles and miles deep in the jungle, you will enjoy comfortable accommodations and quality food along with the excellent fishing.
Choose Your Adventure
The first step in planning a fishing trip to the Amazon is to choose whether you will venture out on a multi-species trip or if you primarily want to fish for peacock bass.
Peacock Bass Fishing
A peacock bass fishing trip is exactly what it sounds like. You will spend all day fishing for giant peacock bass. You’ll throw top water lures such as spooks and chopper baits. You’ll throw Yozuri crystal minnows and rattle traps when you want to fish moving water. And do not underestimate the success of a feathered jig! Your primary target will be the large Cichla Temensis, commonly called three bar or speckled peacock bass. In Brazil they call this monster Tucanare Acu. The Acu can grow as large as 30 pounds and about 40 inches long. Any peacock bass over 20 pounds is a trophy and we brag about any caught that weigh double digits. While you probably won’t catch dozens of the three bars, you will likely catch other species of peacock bass such as butterfly peacocks and yellow peacocks. Sometimes you might get luckly and get a royal peacock, blue peacock or a fire peacock. No matter what species, you will be in for the fight of your life!
Multi-Species Fishing
If you want to catch a few peacock bass, but also want to have a legit chance at catching something else, maybe you should consider a multi-species options. On a multi-species trip you will likely fish for peacock bass for an hour or two each day. But you will also use cutbait to fish the deep eddys of the river for huge catfish, target species such as piranhas, wolf fish, vampire fish, arawanas, jacundas and so much more.
While I love targeting peacock bass, personally I prefer a multi-species trip over the traditional peacock bass fishing trips. I like the variety and option to change tactics for days when the peacock bite is slow. Don’t get me wrong, I love the power and fight of a peacock bass, but I also love the hearing my drag zip almost non stop while I try to slow down a huge catfish. There are literally thousands of species of fish in the Amazon basin. Toss out a line, you are likely to hook something!

Join Adam on a Trip to the Amazon
Hi, I’m Adam, an avid angler who loves to explore new places and challenge myself as I try to catch fish. I take a trip to the Amazon just about every winter. Usually I go to Brazil, but sometimes I go to Guyana or somewhere like Columbia. The Amazon jungle covers 9 different countries in South America and each is a little different in what they offer for fishing. Usually I prefer multi-species fishing trips, but I do occasionally go fish just for peacock bass. If you want to join me simply send me an email and I can get you the details about my next trip. I have contacts all over the Amazon and work to get us a group rate and will help with the setup and logistics.
